iMovie is an Apple app you can use to create movies from video clips and photos. You can use the iMovie app on an iPad or on a Mac computer. For our purposes here, we will focus on the iMovie app that can be used on an iPad. Note- If you are familiar with the iMovie version that is on a Mac computer, you will notice that the iPad is more limited in its capabilities, but has just enough features for our students to produce some fabulous products!
No matter what type of movie students create....
THINK OF THE WRITING THAT IS INVOLVED! Encourage students to create a script!
Digital Storytelling- Students can create a movie that tells an original story or retells a story from another character's perspective.
How To- Students can create a movie that demonstrates how to do something... the sky is the limit!
Advertisement- Students can advertise something... a place, an object, or even an event.
Book Trailers- Students can create a book trailer to encourage others to read a book.
Show What you Know- Students can create a movie that teaches or presents a concept they have learned.
Put Video Clips Together- Sometimes an app offers students a limited amount of time to record a video. For example, in Chatterpix Kids, students are given a 30 second time limit. Students can use iMovie to put together shorter video clips together to make a longer video.
