A limited number of reduced-cost shares are available each season for houeholds experiencing financial hardship. The Subsidized Share Program is 100% funded by Sunnyside CSA members through donations and fundraisers — your full-price membership directly helps make fresh food more accessible in our community.
The Sunnyside CSA offers subsidized Vegetable and Fruit Shares at 50% off the regular price.
Summer Share subsidy pricing:
Subsidized vegetable share: $399
Subsidized fruit share: $104.5
Subsidized shares carry the same benefits, responsibilities, and risks as a standard membership, including volunteer requirements. Payment can be made in monthly installments or as a lump sum.
All applications are kept strictly confidential. Only the subsidy coordinator reviews application information, and decisions are made using criteria similar to NY SNAP income limits.
For questions, contact our subsidy coordinator at subsidy@sunnysidecsa.com.
What if I can't afford the full share price? Our CSA raises money to subsidize a small number of shares for households with limited income. Read more about our Subsidy Program.
What happens if I apply but don't qualify? Subsidy shares are allotted depending on individual need and budget. If you don't qualify this season, you'll be given enough notice to purchase a share at full price.
Do you offer a subsidized Winter Share? Yes, to folks who were part of that year's Summer Share program.
Are Special Shares subsidized? Sometimes, depending on our budget — but not always.
Do I have to be a resident of Sunnyside? No. Many of our members are from neighboring communities.
How does the application process work? All applications are kept strictly confidential. Only the subsidy coordinator has access to application information, and decisions are made using criteria similar to NY SNAP income limits.
Where does the subsidy money come from? The subsidy is 100% supported by Sunnyside CSA members through donations and fundraisers.
