I am Cadet Lieutenant Junior Grade Jacob Hook. I am the Executive Officer of Eldorado Sundevil Company 2019-2020. I developed this site in mid-November 2019. As the Webmaster, you must give yourself rights to as much public unit information as possible, and be able to post it on this website. Be sure to correspond with others and work to make this site as accessible as possible.
Now let me explain what there is to know about the different pages:
SITES OWNED THROUGH THE NV.CCSD.NET DOMAIN CAN'T GIVE OWNERSHIP TO DOMAINS OUTSIDE OF NV.CCSD.NET, SO THERE IS AN IMPLICIT SUGGESTION TO GIVE OWNERSHIP TO THE PERSONAL ACCOUNT WHILE ALSO SHARING IT WITH THE NV.CCSD.NET ACCOUNT.
LINKS CAN BE SHOWN EITHER THROUGH UNDERLINING (INSERT LINK FUNCTION or CTRL+K ON TEXT BOX) OR BY EMBED LINK.
Announcements page should be updated by Main Staff/Webmaster. It is for top-level, unit-wide announcements. The Webmaster uses it for changelogs as well.
Calendar page should be updated by the Operations Department. It has a restricted-staff editing access on Google Calendars. It is owned by the Operations Officer, on their school account, and given top access to Operations Assistants, CO, XO, and Service Officers. There is regular editing access given to Team Commanders.
Company Staff page should be updated with any promotions within the staff, as well as additions and (hopefully not) removals from staff. It is recommended to have pictures of the staff, in their three divisions: Main, Team, and Support (it is not actually divided that way, but it is for a lack of clustering). Another idea is to describe what these staff billets entail. Nothing general, be as specific as possible.
Team Pages would have connections to their own respective team websites, edited through school email accounts. The only people allowed to edit the Team Websites are the Team Commanders, Former Team Commanders (if they are still in the unit and the current Commanders wish them to have access), Public Affairs Officer (for inputting photos), and Webmaster.
Here are some general guidelines for the pages:
RFT should have a link to their Orion Page
Orienteering should have a link to the Los Angeles Orienteering Club and OrienteeringUSA sites.
Drill Team pages should have an online copy of the Cadet Field Manual
Academics should have online copies of all the Naval Science Books
Operations pages should be Drive imports of the necessary forms that the Operations Officer uses, including turnover folders by Special Events Action Officers.
Admin pages should be Drive imports of the necessary forms that the Administration Officer receives. Also, there is a current list of awards that all cadets in the unit have earned. There is also a "missing ribbons/awards" link that leads to a form owned by the Administration Officer, and shared to the Supply Officer. The Admin Department will check the claims and determine if those claims are valid (even through NSI approval), then notify the Supply Officer.
I hope that you have fun as the Unit Webmaster, and I wish luck to everybody in the unit for their future endeavors. This was an important undertaking that I made over the span of a few years, and my goal is to make this as viable of a unit-wide resource as humanly possible. I can only imagine that would be same goal for you too.
