As we get nearer to SummerSing week we are continuing to make preparations to ensure all our students have the best week possible. If you think there are any special accommodations, we need to make for your child that you did not list in their registration, please email Susan Raabe at SummerSing@idlewild.org to let her know. All of this information will be in the nurse’s notebook and noted for the teachers on the class rosters for reference during SummerSing week.
If your child has ADD/ADHD or Autism (or a similar condition) please let us know if you think they will need a shadow to give them one on one attention during their classes and if you or a family member are available to shadow. If they are in a traditional classroom at school, let us know if there are any special accommodations they receive that we should try to mirror.
If your child has an allergy, please let us know if there is a severe reaction that we need to be aware of. Sniffles from dog hair we are not really worried about, but if their throat closes up when they get bit by an ant, we need to know that. If they are allergic to food items, please let us know if it is general or only a specific type of food (like all nuts or just tree nuts) and what kind of reaction they usually have.
If your child has any physical limitations that may require assistance, like wheelchair or crutches, let us know so we can work that in to their travel route.
If your child has a medication they may need to take, please be sure to come early to registration on July 13th and check it in with the nurse. We can not administer the medicine, but they can come to the nurse’s station and take the medicine themselves when needed.
If you have any other concerns that I have not mentioned, please let me know and we will be happy to do what we can to accommodate them. Please let us know about these and any other concerns by Friday, June 26th.
We are looking forward to a great SummerSing week!
