DESIGN STATEMENT

SITE : BANGLADESH UNIVERSITY OF ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY

We were asked to design a Information and communication center for students of BUET. The structure would embody the spirit of BUET and represent it in public domains. The design was based on transparency of the existing site context and innovation in the field of construction.The site sits beside the lively cafeteria area and midst of historic OAB (Old Academic Building) and civil engineering department building.

The whole design idea was dictated by two thing : The concrete and stable foundation of BUET as an avant garde engineering institute with research and academic excellence ,And the creative ideas and cheerful nature of it's students. It was materialized in the building form by a strong base of concrete and on top of that a transparent lightweight structure.
