The Guidance and Counseling Unit assist the student s achieve their maximum potential by developing self-awareness and self-realization. It administers well-planned assessment program and maintains updated relevant individual and group counselling sessions to promote and/or maintain positive students' behavior. Peer counselors are also trained to help the students in their respective colleges/campuses.
The Office of Student Affairs and Services spearheaded a weeklong re-orientation of college students virtually. Dubbed as "ka-Mariano Ako" , the online orientation is the second for School Year 2021-2022. This is conducted to strengthen the level of awareness of new and old students about the various policies of the university including, admission, retention, scholarship, student governance, library services, medical health services, among others.
The heads of various operating units that offer student services were the resource persons during the said virtual event. It was conducted last January 24-28, 2022 via Zoom.
The students who participated come from 7 colleges, namely, College of Information Technology, College of Technology, College of Management, College of Education, College of Engineering, College of Arts and Science, and the Institute of Criminal Justice Education.
The Office of Student Affairs and Services will be holding its annual Campus Orientation program for all students who are enrolled this First Semester, School Year 2021-2022.
Just like in 2020, the orientation this year will be conducted in an online mode as there are still restrictions set by the COVID-19 pandemic. Students are advised to follow the procedures given below:

In the celebration of the 38th International AIDS Candlelight Memorial on this Time of Pandemic, the Provincial Health Office in cooperation with Don Mariano Marcos Memorial State University conducted a virtual seminar for senior high school and college students of the university on May 14, 2021 via Google Meet.
A total of 252 students registered to the said webinar as they engaged themselves to topics on HIV, effects of smoking, and mental health as virtually presented by Dr. Kareen Aina Lacasandile - Sanchez, Mr. Rainier G. Repollo, and Dr. Magnolia Brabante, respectively.
The activity was also streamed live via Facebook through the page of DMMMSU-MLUC. As of this writing, it has already 1.5K views.
The "Kamusta Ka? Touch your Feeling!" is a special project of the Office of the Student Affairs and Services to assist the mental well-being of its students. This was launched during the first quarter of the 2020 through the Guidance and Counseling unit. This surveys students current emotions from a particular phenomenon or situation like the enhanced community quarantine period brought by the pandemic. At the moment, we are conducting a survey as to how students feel now that we are opening the Academic Year 2020-2021 with a new normal set-up of learning. Click here to join.
Last August 15, 2019, the Office of the Student Affairs and Services initiated a campus-wide orientation program for all freshmen and transferees for School Year 2019-2020. This was participated by students from various colleges. Campus administrators, Unit heads, personnel attended the said event to orient the students as to what, when, how they can avail all student services.
The Office of the Student Affairs and Services in collaboration with the Medical and Dental Services Unit conducted a special program that addresses current concerns of students like teenage pregnancy and HIV/AIDS. Dubbed as "Responsible Adulthood Awareness Campaign", the two units invited health experts from the City Health Office of San Fernando, La Union and The Philippine Medical Association - La Union Chapter to grace the event. This was attended by college students as well as high school students. It was done in 4 schedules to address 4 groups of clientele of the campus.
