About Me
Besides being a personal trainer & nutrition coach, I am also a wife to my amazing husband, mother of 3 rapidly growing & active children, high school teacher, athlete, lector at our Catholic church, daughter, & friend. I know what it is like to be busy! However, I also know firsthand how important it is to take care of yourself physically, mentally, emotionally, & spiritually.
My fitness hobbies include weightlifting, obstacle course racing, hiking, stair & hill climbing, rock climbing at the gym, & learning all I can about fitness through podcasts, books, & articles. Outside of the fitness world, I also love spending time with my family & friends, watching my kids do what they love, reading, & gardening.
The History behind
To begin with, I have been an athlete since elementary school. Softball was my main sport, but I also played a bit of volleyball, swam, & tried some basketball. My favorite thing to do was pitch fastpitch softball. When college arrived, sports took a back seat & would remain an activity that I'd do here & there. After getting married, getting my masters degree, & having 3 children, I was ready to start "getting back in shape."
In 2019, I participated in my first obstacle course race, the Muddy Princess, with a few friends. I LOVED it! I couldn't wait until next year. But, then Covid hit...
March of 2020 brought us all home. How was I going to cope with staying at home, my husband & I working/teaching from home online, & handling 3 young children? I set up part of the basement as my "workout" area & I would strength train & exercise every morning to a different genre of music. The kids were allowed to workout with me or they could play & be active nearby. I justified this as our physical education & music time. This helped my physical health & my mental health during such a weird time in our lives. I have been strength training & working out ever since. I may love being strong, but how much fitness helps my mental health is so extremely important!
Starting in June 2021, I started attending an obstacle course training gym called Grit Obstacle Training, located in Waterford, MI. I had a lot of trepidation at first. However, I still go to their classes when I'm able, & it is considered one of my "happy places."
I truly enjoy fitness in general (obviously), but my "sport" now is obstacle course racing. In 2022, I did my first two Spartan Races (1 5K Sprint in Oxford, MI & 1 5K Stadion at Fenway Park in Boston, MA). In 2023, I completed my first Spartan Trifecta for my 40th birthday (1 5K Stadion at the University of Notre Dame, 1 10K Super in Palmerton, PA, & 1 21K Beast in Lawrenceburg, IN). In 2024, I completed a 10K Super in Atlanta, GA & a 10K Super & a 5K Sprint in Grand Rapids, MI in July.
In 2025, I plan on doing a 5K Spartan Sprint in April & July, a 5K OCR with the family in May, & the War X Trilogy in June.
