Sculpture

In 2012, I completed a sculpture series called Forest of the Heart and exhibited it at Maker Faire, where it won an Editors' Choice blue ribbon.

This four foot tall sculpture was a prototype for the 8 foot tall full size sculptures, which ended up being put together differently to be more structurally sound. The large pieces were cut on the ShopBot, which can handle 4 foot by 8 foot sheet of plywood.

The images below are the one foot tall concept prototypes. All the artwork is my original drawings, scanned and cleaned up, then translated into Corel Draw source files for the laser cutter.

The images below are Forest of the Heart at Maker Faire 2012.

The image on the left below is a large squid sculpture piece being cut out of plywood on the ShopBot. The laser-cut acrylic small version of a similar piece is shown on the right. The holes are to hang earrings in, and the half-circle cutouts for jewelery.
