Once auditions are complete, it's time to bring the fairy tale to life! Rehearsals for The Frog Prince take place all week after school, leading up to the full performances on Saturday

General Rehearsal Schedule

Monday, February 22:

Auditions (2 hours after school from 2:45-4:45 p.m.)
First rehearsal immediately after auditions, following a short break (2 hours from 5:00-7:00 p.m.)

Tuesday, February 23 – Thursday, February 25:

Rehearsals run about 4.25 hours after school each afternoon from 2:45-7:00 p.m. (1:00-5:15 p.m. on Wednesday due to early dismissal)
Not every child will be called every day, but families should keep these times open until the final schedule is provided on Monday after auditions

Friday, February 26 – Dress Rehearsal:

A full dress rehearsal takes place during the first three hours after school, from 2:45-5:45 p.m. Students will put on costumes, use props, and run through the show
After a short break, older cast members will stay for an additional 1-hour rehearsal session from 6:00-7:00 p.m.
Note: Dress rehearsal is not a performance, and no audience is permitted

Saturday, February 27 – Performance Day!

There will be two shows on Performance Day at 1:00 p.m. and 3:30 p.m. The full cast performs in both shows
Cast members arrive 90 minutes before the first showtime (at 11:30 a.m.) to get into costume and warm up
Performances last about 60–70 minutes with no intermission
After the final show, costumes and sets will be checked in and packed up

Ground Rules for Participation

Attendance is required. If your child is cast, they must attend all rehearsals for their role. Missing rehearsals could mean losing their part
Be on time. Rehearsals move quickly, and every minute counts. Please drop off and pick up promptly
Supervision starts at 2:45 p.m. (1:00 p.m. on Wednesday) No supervision will be provided before 2:45 p.m. M, T, Th, F, including for Kindergarteners who may have an earlier dismissal time. On Wednesday (early release day), supervision will start at 1:00 p.m.) Parents are responsible for arranging care until rehearsal check-in begins.
Come prepared. Send your child with a water bottle and a healthy snack. Rehearsals are long and energetic, and short breaks will be provided
Positive attitude. Encourage your child to do their best, support their castmates, and have fun. This is a team experience!

Important Commitment Info

If your child is cast in The Frog Prince:

They MUST be available for every rehearsal and both performances throughout the week
No conflicts will be accepted (including sports practices, games, lessons, or appointments)
Students need to clear their schedules for the entire week to be eligible for casting

This residency is a fast-paced, one-week process—missing even one rehearsal could mean losing a role.

Volunteer Help Needed

Rehearsals are fast-paced and exciting, but with so many students involved, we need parent support to help keep things organized and safe.

Volunteer Role: Rehearsal Helper

Supervise students who are waiting for their turn to rehearse
Help ensure students stay quiet and respectful while others are working
Escort students if they need to leave the room
Be a supportive presence and help kids stay focused and positive

Schedule of Volunteer Needs

Monday: One shift after auditions conclude (2.25 hours)
Tuesday – Thursday: Two shifts per afternoon (first 2.25 hours, second 2.25 hours).
Friday (Dress Rehearsal): Two shifts (first 2.25 hours, second 2 .25hours).

FAQs About Rehearsals

Will my child rehearse every day?

Not necessarily. Some roles require daily rehearsals, while others may only be called on certain days. A detailed schedule will be given out on Monday after auditions.

What happens if my child misses a rehearsal?

If your child is cast, they must attend every rehearsal and both performances. No conflicts will be accepted—including sports practices, games, lessons, or appointments. The play is built in just one week, and missing even a single rehearsal could mean losing a role.

Please make sure your child’s schedule is clear for the entire week before they audition.

Are rehearsals right after school?

Yes. Rehearsals begin shortly after school dismissal and run into the late afternoon or early evening. Plan for about 4.25 hours each day (Tuesday–Friday), plus the Monday audition and rehearsal.

Supervision will not begin until 2:45 p.m. (1:00 p.m. on Wednesday), so families of Kindergarteners or students with earlier dismissal times must make arrangements until rehearsal starts.

Can parents watch rehearsals?

No. To help students stay focused, rehearsals are closed. Parents are invited to attend the final performances on Saturday.

Will my child need to bring anything?

Just a water bottle and a healthy snack each day. Costumes, props, and scripts are provided.

How long are the performances?

Each of the two Saturday performances run about 60-70 minutes with no intermission.
