This year, Strandwood is thrilled to welcome back Missoula Children’s Theatre (MCT) for another unforgettable week of musical theatre, this time bringing The Frog Prince to life right here at our school.
After the success of last year’s production, The Jungle Book, we’re excited to once again partner with MCT and their unique touring theatre program. MCT brings the directors, costumes, scenery, and props, then spends one action-packed week at Strandwood auditioning, rehearsing, and working with our students to put on a full-scale musical production.
And here’s what makes this residency extra special: all Strandwood students will benefit from the experience.
For students who audition and are cast: They will work with the MCT directors all week in rehearsals, learning acting, singing, movement, and teamwork.
For all K-5 students at Strandwood: MCT will also conduct age-appropriate, interactive enrichment workshops during the school day. These hands-on sessions are designed to spark creativity, build confidence, and introduce students to the performing arts.
This program is made possible through the generous sponsorship of the PTA for the production and California Proposition 28 funds for the enrichment workshops, ensuring that the benefits of MCT’s residency extend to the entire school community.
This means that every child at Strandwood—whether on stage or in the classroom—will experience the joy of theater for one special week!

In this lively twist on the classic tale, a spoiled Princess learns some unexpected lessons about friendship, promises, and seeing beyond appearances. Along the way, audiences will meet a colorful cast of characters who help bring this fairy-tale adventure to life.
More than 50 Strandwood students will be cast in the production, with roles for a wide range of ages and experience levels. With original music, humor, and plenty of opportunities for our students to shine, The Frog Prince promises to be a fun-filled show for the whole family!

One week start to finish: Students audition on Monday, rehearse all week, and perform on Saturday
Everything provided: MCT brings costumes, scenery, props, and scripts
Our role as parents is to support the experience so it’s a success for the kids.

Auditions: Monday, February 22 (after school, 2 hours)
Rehearsals: Monday, Feb. 22–Friday, Feb. 26 (after school, approximately 4.5 hours per day)
Performances: Two shows on Saturday afternoon, February 27 at 1:00 p.m. and 3:30 p.m.
A detailed rehearsal schedule will be provided on the first day.
