KING:The most important piece in the game.  YOU HAVE 1

QUEEN:The most powerful and versatile piece.  YOU HAVE 1

ROOK:Can move any number of squares horizontally or vertically. YOU HAVE 2

BISHOP: Can move any number of squares diagonally.  YOU HAVE 2

KNIGHT: Moves in an "L" shape.  YOU HAVE 2

PAWN:The least valuable but can be powerful in groups and is the only piece that can promote to another piece upon reaching the opposite side of the board. YOU HAVE 8
