Tools that will strengthen writing of the Second Grader based on the Common Core Standards.
Second graders are expected to use information from provided sources to answer questions, do group research, and writing projects in 4 ways:

Write a few clear, thought-out points about their topic
Write one or more sentences in conclusion
Use correct grammar, spelling, and punctuation

Be patient, kind, supportive, and encouraging.
Help students organize and structure their writing.
Share ideas before writing.
Collaboratively write together as a class.
Use prompts and sentence starters to help guide them with their writing.
Create writing workshops.
Seek writing opportunities at home.
Writing warmups for creativity and expression.
Pre-writing to help construct ideas.
Breakup writing into smaller manageable pieces with graphic organizers.
Lead by teacher modeling and guided writing.
Provide opportunities for students to share their writings by talking and drawing.
Keep a writing journal.
Utilize mini writing lessons to practice writing styles and strategies.
Give students choice with what they write about.
Create opportunities for students to share and create projects with purpose like a blog, cards, brochures, and more.
Support students indiviually and in groups to identify strengths and weaknesses.
