Give readers a tool kit like alphabet charts, word boxes, word walls or vocabulary cards.
Discuss books deeply with dignity by allowing them to sketch their responses to parts that inspired them.
Encourage rereading a favorite story in another form.
Build stamina using small increments of reading.
Create reading centers.
Empower students to choose what they want to read.
Increase reading joy by making the world come alive with stories students will love.
Encourage students to talk with peers about reading.
Read aloud stories and text.
Read as a whole class or group.
Take turns reading parts of a story or text.
Seek reading opportunities at home.
