Me in Retirement

My husband tells everyone he does retirement better than me.  I would have to agree. I retired in January 2018.  Wow, 2024 marks six years of retirement. Everyone asked me why. I told them all my jobs were finished, so it was time.  Really, I didn't have a plan other than to hunt and garden.  But God had other plans.  That February, I was invited to judge the local Homeschool Science Fair.  I got to hang out with some of my favorite people who I hadn't seen in a few years.  During my time there, I was asked to pray about possibly tutoring Challenge I.  During this time, I applied to be a University Supervisor at WCU.  I would have to wait 6 months because of the NC retirement clause.  Guess what? It was exactly six months to start work in August. Oh, I forgot to mention my dog, Ella, was born at midnight on March 29th.  I could not have been her trainer if I hadn't retired when I did.  It's super cool how God works.  He had all these (and more) waiting for me to retire.  

Retirement is busy; I get to be more involved with our parents, taking them to doctors' visits, shopping, eating out, and a whole bunch of other things.  I am also learning about cultivating edible mushrooms and identifying them in the woods.  I am learning about medical plants, too. Plus gardening and canning ..... the list goes on.
