Shape of Paganini
Scope of work: music arrangement
Format: online content
Client: The Lorong Boys
Creative Notes
The brief called for a mash-up of Ed Sheeran's "Shape of You" as well as a piece from Paganini. The 24th Caprice was chosen as it is the most well-known amongst his works. It opens with a quote from Rachmaninoff's Variations on a Theme of Paganini which also uses the same Caprice as its source. Throughout the piece, there is a lot of development and interaction between the motifs and melodic material of the two songs. Look out for other easter eggs as well.

Creative notes
We provide original background music, curated music and sound design for indoor and outdoor spaces. Existing audio systems are used for this purpose. For premises without an existing sound system, and should the client wish to install one, we are able to provide recommendations of vendors who specialise in such projects.
During creative discussions, we seek to understand the ambience that the client would, ideally, like to achieve. At the same time, we survey the premises, making note of its design and the moods that it brings to people passing through.
As with other site-specific installations, we take logistical and technical concerns into account, and tailor our content to overcome these. We discuss with our clients to come to a compromise between initial aspirations and practical application. Let’s say, the ideal situation had been to provide different music for different parts of the premises. However, is is discovered that it is not possible to zone the sound system. Eventually, we get around by creating one single track, and we stagger different styles of music initially meant for different zones within this singular track, as a form of workaround.
