In celebration of the 100th Anniversary of Route 66, artCentral (a non-profit art organization in Carthage, Missouri) is presenting a national exhibit featuring works inspired by America's most iconic highway.
As a seven-time cross-country traveler, I have a tremendous affection for Route 66 and the bits and pieces of its past that still survive. One such structure is this old Stagecoach 66 sign that I photographed in Seligman, Arizona and then painted in my studio. Though rust slowly creeps across its face, this sign continues to fight to keep the memories of the Mother Road alive.
The artwork is roughly 12" x 16" (plus frame and mat.) It will not be posted for sale until the exhibition closes, but if you're interested in its availability, please contact me.
For the second time in 2026, my linoprint work will be exhibited in a gallery - this time the trendsetting ShadowBoxX Gallery in Waukegan, Illinois.
The show is called "Pareidolia" - quite literally, the human brain's propensity to see what it wants to see. In my mind, nowhere is this phenomenon of seeing familiar patterns in random settings more prevalent than in the search for cryptids (animals whose existence is in dispute.)
I am so honored to be part of this contemporary gallery's show. If you're in the Chicago area this spring, please stop by to see the exhibition.

NOTE: This print will be a limited edition after the Pariedolia show ends on April 11, 2026. I will be offering 20 hand-printed linoprints. To reserve one of these linoprints (or the framed print exhibited in the show), contact me.

There may still be a few weeks of winter left, but my mind has already turned to spring. I look forward to the days when it's warm enough to start working in my flower and vegetable beds.

Based on my own photograph (taken in my back yard), this piece shows a brave Japanese maple still clinging to a few ruby red leaves, even after the first snowfall.
It was a particular challenge to create. Suggesting white snow on the branches while keeping the tree distinct from the white blanket of snow on the ground was a little tricky. But I believe the hand-painted accents succeed in capturing the stunning scene. (You can see the carving, printing and painting process in the accompanying YouTube video.)
This is a one-off, meaning there are no other painted linoprints of this scene available. Also, please note that this is not digital art, nor is it AI. It is a hand-printed and hand-painted linocut print made by me in my studio.
Artwork is 7.25" X 10" without signature.
Print is packaged in clear sleeve with backer board (no mat or frame.)
Price for this piece is $120 which includes shipping in the United States. For additional information, contact me.
Sample section of an artist's proof of the linoprint Find Your Light created by printmaker Stephanie Hoover, 2025.
I call this limited edition linoprint "Find Your Light" because, in a time when so many things feel dark, it's important to search for the people, places and experiences that celebrate goodness and peace.
Please note that this is not a digital image, nor was it generated with AI.
I create the artwork, carve it into linoleum, and hand-print a limited number of copies in my studio.

In late April 2025 I started a YouTube channel where I post free demos and process videos of my art and printmaking. I am so appreciative of the tens of thousands of views received to date. Exposure is invaluable to the growth of my small art business so if you're interested in my content, please subscribe to my channel.

Just returned home after our seventh cross-country trip. We're always thankful to return safely, but the way the views across this nation change each time we travel is just astounding. As an artist, my first instinct (of course) is to commemorate important things with art. In that vein, I'm using our west coast visit to create a linocut print series of our six favorite sights in California: the Joshua Trees in the Mojave Desert, the Golden Hills, the vineyards of Napa, South Lake Tahoe, the infamous Donner Pass and the iconic Highway 101. No idea how long it will take me to design, cut and print all six linocut prints, but progress posts and videos will soon be available here and on my YouTube channel, @stephaniehooverart.
Your workspace doesn't have to be "Insta-Perfect."
And showing you my face, for the firs time.
I recently made a huge mistake. I created a rough drawing for an oil pastel painting I want to enter into a call for artists - but I made it 8" x 10". The problem? I want the oil pastel painting to be 10" x 14". Soooo... I had to do some serious math to create a grid that would allow me to "size up" the drawing. After all the work I put into it, I decided to give the grid away to anyone who signs up for my monthly newsletter. I hope it helps other artists who might face the same dilemma.
Sign up for my monthly newsletter (using this special form) and I'll email you the grid, along with printing instructions.
