Nurture a love of learning with our engaging Pre-Kindergarten Maths & English program!
At Step-By-Step Tutoring, we believe in fostering a love of learning in every child. Led by experienced educator, Mrs. Rita offers high-quality Maths and English tuition for pre-school and primary school students.Â
The Pre-Kindergarten program is a combined one-hour session per week, with 30 minutes dedicated to each subject.
Our hands-on, play-based maths sessions build a strong foundation in key mathematical concepts:
Number Sense: Children will develop a strong understanding of numbers through rote counting, object counting (up to 10 and beyond, as they're ready), number recognition (0-10), connecting numerals to quantities, and understanding one-to-one correspondence.
Geometry & Spatial Sense: We'll explore basic shapes (circle, square, triangle, rectangle) in the environment and use positional words (in, on, under, next to, beside, in front of, behind) to develop spatial awareness.
Measurement: Children will compare objects by size (big/small, long/short, tall/short), using comparative words (bigger, smaller, longer, shorter), and explore non-standard measurement with objects like blocks or hands.
Patterns & Sorting: We'll engage in recognising and creating simple patterns (e.g., ABAB) with colours, shapes, and objects, as well as sorting objects by various attributes.
Letter Recognition: Builds a strong foundation for reading.
Phonics and Blending: Learn to read through phonics and blending sounds, including "stretching" sounds and letter-sound recognition.
Expert Instruction: Ms. Rita brings 12 years of experience in education, with specialised training in evidence-based teaching methodologies.
Personalised Learning: We focus on individual needs, addressing areas where children may struggle and providing tailored support.
Structured & Engaging Learning: Our well-structured curriculum, aligned with the Australian Curriculum, features engaging lessons and clear explanations.
Small Class Sizes: Benefit from personalised attention in our small, supportive classes (Max 6 students).
