SYSC is a free in-person week-long summer program for students in 3rd - 8th grade (previous school-year) who are interested in exploring science, technology, engineering, and mathematics (STEM) subjects in the future. Curious and motivated students will have the opportunity to work with excelling high school and college students in STEM fields while exploring the diverse range of STEM topics (math, physics, chemistry, biology, and environmental science). The program includes interactive lectures on various STEM fields that are at a more advanced level than covered in elementary and middle school, along with hands-on experiments and projects that facilitate personal creative expressions and teamwork.Â
SYSC fosters its students' interests, knowledge, and awareness of the application of STEM in the real world, and the various topics they could explore in the future by focusing on a curriculum that is hands-on and inventive. It also builds the students' team-work skills through group projects that encourage corporation as they learn from and with their peers.
