Good Morning Team,
Cooler weather is coming this week! Possibly time for rain jackets? We shall see!⛈️
This week's positive message:
Take a Thank You Walk - It's impossible to be grateful and stressed at the same time. Make the time each day to go for a walk. On this walk, think about what you are grateful for. You can even say these things out loud. When you are feeling blessed, you can't be stressed. (#13 - from How To Be A Coffee Bean)
With the weather changing this is the perfect time to start Thank You walks! I know I need to intentionally take the time to do this more often. I hope you all are able to as well!
The picture day schedule is in the newsletter, as is the book fair preview schedule, with both being on Monday. Prepare for some different transitions with your class that day due to the two different items on the schedule that day. Please send out messages to your families reminding them of picture day (non-uniform day!), the book fair, and your grade level Curriculum Event going on this week.
I can't believe this is the last week of the first 6 week grading period! Time flies when you're having fun! Grades are due finalized and all submitted in PowerSchool by Monday, Sept 18 by 8:00am. If you have any questions about the gradebook, please reach out before Friday so that I can help you with any issue you may have.
Have a beautiful weekend!
#MAWAY!

"A" week schedule this week!
This week is the last week of the 1st 6 week grading period. Please make sure all grades are submitted & finalized by Monday, Sept 18 at 8:00am. Remember how many grades are needed each week per content area in order to get a good picture as to a scholar's academic level. The goal is that eventually parents will have the ability to check their scholar's grades in PowerSchool as often as they like, so make sure you are keeping your gradebook up-to-date weekly. If you need any help, please reach out!
Classroom teachers, please make sure you are taking attendance by 10am each day. If a scholar brings in a tardy slip, mark them with a "T" in the system when you take attendance during your assigned ADA period.
Specials team, you are to take attendance FOR EACH CLASS BLOCK each day in PowerSchool.
Set an alarm, ask for scholars to remind you, write yourself a note....whatever it takes to remind you to take attendance during your ADA time period. We only receive funding from the state if scholars are present at school each day, and if we do not take attendance (and take it accurately), this affects our overall funding we receive from the state. Scholars who have been absent more than 5 times since the start of school will be receiving truancy letters this week to send home to families.
Shout out to you all for 100% attendance taken on Friday, Sept 1 & 8!!!!

*Pre-K 3 & 4, come see me on Monday and we can discuss a possible preview time for you.
Tuesday through Friday, if scholars bring money/have money in their E-Wallet to spend, please send scholars down no more than 3 at a time during WIN time for grades Kinder, 1st, 6th, 7th, & 8th and for scholars in grades 2nd, 3rd, 4th & 5th, during recess time (if having recess in your classroom - DO NOT send them in & out if outside) or anytime between 2pm - 3:15pm where your lessons/teaching allows. Please state to scholars that they should spend no longer than 10 minutes in the book fair due to missing class time. Thank you!
Where to put them: 2023-2024 Teacher Resources drive within the STEM folder.
Please make sure to upload your lesson plans & newsletters to the correct folder and on time. If you need help, please let me know!
On Sept 13 &14 from 4:15-5:30pm, we will host a curriculum night for our families (Grades Pre-K through 3 on Sept. 13 from 4:15-5:30pm, and Grades 4-8 on Sept. 14 from 4:15-5:30pm). You will be presenting to families brief information about your grade level, content, and curriculum used on a daily basis. The book fair will be going on in the gym during this time as well, so families will have the opportunity to purchase books at that time. Here is an example of a syllabus template (also a great guide as to points to discuss during curriculum night). Thank you, Ms. M, for sharing your syllabus as an example!
Please email me your syllabus for review by Monday at 4:00pm. Come see me if you need assistance!
When going to lunch, please make sure your class is at a level ZERO while in the hallway, especially by the Pre-K 4 classroom. The Mini-Mavericks in that room are trying to rest (from 11:45-1:30), so please be mindful of the noise level of the scholars. Thank you for helping to reinforce hallway expectations!
See a staff member doing something amazing? Why yes, everyday! Let's start celebrating each other with "shouting" each other out with the great things we are doing! In the staff lounge is a bulletin board titled "Staff Shout-Outs".
How it works:
Spread some positivity by giving a shout-out to a member of our school.
Grab a shout-out slip (located by the bulletin board) and jot down what you appreciate about someone. You can sign your name or leave it anonymous.
Then, tape it up and voila! You've just made someone's day! ❣️
Please read the email Ms. Sudan sent out on Friday, Sept 8 regarding your IPDP submissions. IPDP's are not manditory, but a great opportunity to earn some extra money in the fall and in the spring.
As stated in the email she sent, this is a "VIEW ONLY" copy of the IPDP document. Please "Make a Copy" replace "Employee Name" with YOUR NAME. Complete this plan and share it with your direct supervisor (Vinten) for approval by 9/30/2023.
Please submit your IPDP to your individual folder in our 2023-2024 Staff Items, IPDP folder - I will check this folder weekly to see if staff has submitted documents (do not send it to me in an email). Let me know if you have any questions!
