A message from Principal Vinten

Good afternoon, team!

What a fast week last week was! Between STAAR Interim exams and our Cultures Around the World event, I feel like I blinked and the week was over! I appreciate each day the enthusiasm and drive you each bring! Read some of the amazing comments about you all within the newsletter with feedback from stakeholders and families from our Cultures event!

This week will be no less busy! We have the Arabic exam for 7th & 8th graders, STAAR Interim for 5th & 8th graders, and field studies for grades 3 - 8! Please look again within the newsletter for some meeting times with me for certain grade levels/teachers so we can go over specifics for this week.

Monday begins our "Countdown to Winter Break"! See the link below about what we are doing each day to celebrate you! I look forward to seeing each of your tomorrow with a little "treat" to celebrate our Red & White day (10 days until break)!

Enjoy the rest of your Sunday! Let me know if you need anything! See you all tomorrow!

Field Studies This Week

This is an exciting time!!! This Tuesday is our field study for our 3rd-6th graders to Kidzania, and on Wednesday is our field study for our 7th & 8th graders to AT&T Stadium. I need to meet with 3rd - 6th grade teachers on Monday at 4:00pm briefly to go over all the logistics for Tuesday. On Tuesday at 4:00pm, I need to meet with 7th & 8th grade teachers & Coach Ford to go over the logistics for Wednesday. Please meet in my office at those times.

Pre-K through 2nd grade, I will meet with you all next week prior to your field study experience to go over all of the details.

Please remind your scholars that they ARE to be in uniform for their field study excursion. Teachers in 3rd - 8th grade, please remind your families that if they did not fill out the chaperone forms, or did not fill them out correctly (all have been notified if this is the case), that they will not be allowed to come on the field study. They will not be able to pay at the door and join us, as these two destinations have strict chaperone requirements. If families have any questions, please tell them to reach out to me. Thank you!

Principal Feedback Survey

Please see the information below from Ms. Sudan about providing feedback on the link below. I am wanting our campus to have 100% participation in this survey. I look at all feedback as a way to grow and get better within my profession, so please provide open and honest answers. Names are not attached to the feedback, but if you have any specific feedback that you would like to share with me, I am happy to meet with you at your convenience. Thank you for helping me to grow as a leader! I truly value your input!

2022-2023 Principal Feedback Survey

This survey is used to provide campus principals feedback for school improvement. We request honest feedback from teachers/staff. Campus principals will not see individual staff responses, but rather the collective response averages.

The survey results will be shared with HR and the superintendent. However, the responses are not meant to be "evaluative". This survey is simply designed to drive school improvement efforts. Staff members will have to identify the correct campus, but not themselves as an employee. This survey requires you to use your school email to login, but does not retain your email address. This survey is anonymous. Please complete this survey by Friday, December 9, 2022. This same survey will be shared out at the end of the year after we have made adjustments as a result of your feedback.

STAAR Interim

I am very excited about all of the STAAR Interim results from this past week. You all are doing a tremedous job preparing our scholars and it shows! During PLC time last week, the conversations regarding your data will continue to help you make great educational strides within your curriculum to assist even stronger student growth. Thank you all for the great participation last Friday!

This week we have the following exams:

  • December 5: Arabic exam for the 7th & 8th graders (during Language class time)

  • December 6: 8th grade Social Studies STAAR Interim

  • December 8: 5th & 8th grade Science STAAR Interm

On Tuesday and Thursday, 7th & 8th grade scholars will remain in their homeroom classrooms all day and will be given breaks in the afternoon by the Specials team. 5th grade scholars will remain with Ms. M all day on Dec. 8. Specials team, please meet with me Monday afternoon at 1:30pm to go over your afternoon schedules for Tuesday and Thursday.

All remaining classes, please help make sure all scholars are navigating the hallways in a quiet manner, especially when going to Specials. Happy Assessing!

Cultures "Around the World" Festival Event

You all are truly amazing! This event was incredible, and I have heard nothing but positive feedback about the event! Here is some feedback from some of our stakeholders and families:

From Ms. Sudan:

Please exttend my gratitude and thanks to your Manara staff. I enjoyed their collaboration and collective efforts and how they work as a team. They are so dedicated and creative. It's apparent how much they love their students and families! I am so impressed with the Manara STEM team!

From families:

This was the BEST event! I enjoyed getting to see what my children have been working on and also loved getting to spend time with other families!

We are so excited that events are happening on campus again! Great job teachers and staff on the beautiful presentations!

We love our teachers here at Manara STEM! This event was such a wonderful thing for our families!

I appreciate you all and your dedication! Thank you for helping to make the event one to remember! If you have any other pictures, please make sure to upload them to our AE shared folder in Google Drive.

New Staff Member!

On Tuesday, Dec. 6, please welcome our new staff member, Ms. Sandy Seavers! Ms. Seavers will be our permanent Special Education teacher within our self-contained classroom. She comes to us with Special Education and ESL experience, and I know she will be the perfect addition to our team! Welcome to Manara STEM and our team, Ms. Seavers!

Absences

If you are ill in the morning or are sick the evening before and need an absence, please first text me to let me know and then place your absence in Willsub. Willsub does not send me notifications in a timely manner (and sometimes does not alert me at all), so I do not know until I check the system that you are requesting off. If you are requesting a day off days ahead of time (per the staff handbook), please email me to let me know that as well.

Also, if you will be arriving after 7:15am (your designated arrival time), please text me to let me know you are running a bit late. Thank you!
