How do I bring my ideas to life?
This course is an entry course for 6th and 7th graders. In this course, you will learn to design and develop solutions to solve a variety of science based dilemmas. You will be introduced to using a design thinking process to research, ideate, design, prototype, and iterate your solutions until your solution to meet a particular performance expectation.
Most of the learning quests will be focused on throughout the year.
What essential skills do student's need to succeed in STEAM Class. In this onboard quest, students will learn what it means to be in STEAM by explore and applying our procedures, routines, and guides to learning how to use the Innovator's Hub as a learning tool and more.

How do objects balance? We will be investigate the concept of balance through the perspective of Newton's Laws of Motion to explain why object's balance.
Time Frame: 4 Weeks

How does one design a bridge that will carry a heavy load? Bridges are wondrous architecture that have been engineered to hold heavy loads. We will be investigating how bridges are engineered to carry heavy loads.
Time Frame: 5 Weeks

How are kite engineered to take flight? Student will be investigate what makes objects fly. Based upon what the concepts investigated, students will be engineering kites that they will fly at Ocean Beach.

How does one use simple machines to design a complex machines? From gears to lever to ramps, each machine will used to perform a task.

How do we design a coaster that is safe and thrilling? Corkscrews, lifts, and loop are thrilling aspects of a coaster. We also have to consider how these components of a roller coasters are used to keep the riders safe.
Time Frame: 6 Weeks

How does one use a circuit to make LED lights glow? We will be investigate the concept of electricity and learning how to build circuits that electricity is able to flow.
Time Frame: 3 Weeks

In May, students will be showcasing their best work at the Innovation Showcase.
Time Frame: 2 Weeks
Skill Level: Advance
At the end of each semester student will be present a reflection what they have learning, their proud moments, challenging moments, moment of growth, and pass on advice to next year's STEAM students.
