Mathematicians can work in many fields including the space industry. Someone who works in orbital dynamics or orbital mechanics, calculates the trajectories (paths and locations) of rockets and vehicles moving in space around the Earth and through the solar system. Mathematicians are essential for getting rockets to go where they need. They can calculate how much fuel needs to be burned and when in order to maneuver a rocket or spacecraft into position.
