John Audubon was a watercolor artist and ornithologist (person who studies birds) who greatly influenced the study of wildlife and natural history. Audubon observed live birds in the wild and drew and painted watercolor pictures of what he observed. These images were used by other ornithologists to study birds and by activists to stop the mass killing of birds for use of their feathers.
