This program was created to introduce students to the socio-scientific issue of deforestation, through classroom work and filed trips.
The aim of this program is to assist students to investigate the forests around Australian schools to that they can:
Analyses the importance of how large scale changes in envrionement leads to local and global system changes
Apply real-world data to draw conclusions about the impact of natural and human impacts on forest ecosystems, and society
Develop an action plan to address the problem of deforestation in thier local area
Produce written communication suitable for a variety of media and publications.
This program consists of 16 lessons that adopts the 6E instructional model and systems thinking approach. Below is an overview of the three modules and the content and activitties included in this program.
