As early as 1995 it was seen that "the time is coming when Kirkintilloch will require a second boat due to the enormous catchment area, covering, as it does, the whole of the West of Scotland. They are well placed for this as their boathouse was built to berth two boats." (BB)
Based at Kirkintilloch, Marjorie Seagull was named in honour of the late Mrs. Marjorie Brown from Edinburgh whose very generous bequest to The Trust enabled this boat to be built. Marjorie Seagull was built by Stenson Marine in Derby and brought to Scotland by road transport in October 2001. She was launched at Lock 16 on the Forth & Clyde Canal before being taken to her base at Kirkintilloch to run in tandem with the Yarrow Seagull providing free cruises for disabled people in the area.
