Local School Collaboration:

• Conversation with Bridget Booth. Ms Booth is a Science Teacher in Haslett, on the Board of the MI Alliance for Environmental and Outdoor Education, and a Green Grant recipient. She is interested in expanded environmental education and collaboration with Meridian. She's also envisioning improvements to an outdoor education/natural area near Mud Lake. Booth is attempting to identify contacts at each school building. Recent conference discusses Youth Climate Action Teams and the importance of climate education. Booth may wish to start a team, taskforce, etc related to some projects she's interested in moving forward, such as an outdoor classroom.

• Amira Vojic and others from Okemos Earth Club's "Activism" committee is interested in starting a podcast.

MSU Audit -
Site visits of building will begin this winter to help position recommendations for 2024 budget cycle which starts in July 2023

Solar on Public Safety Building Carports
Construction begins next week!

Sustainability Tour & Bike Tour
This virtual event will be promoted during October. A successful bike tour was held Oct 1.

Electronics Recycling Event
October 8 is the day. 70 volunteers have signed up. Please share this flier.

Green Dialogues
Continue on Wednesday mornings. Recent idea - code flier has morphed in to a "good neighbor tips" idea. Ben Crocker (Bendy Stem Farm) participated in September.

Permit expect next week.

Recycling Center
Met with EGLE last week to discuss some significant unforeseen cost increase. Will reapply next year.

Board and Commission Handbook Draft
Several staff have offered edits.

Wetland Mailing
The Mailing will go out next week to about 3800 households adjacent to wetlands.

Compost Bin Sale

High Grass Ordinance
Recently provided info on this topic which was included in the Green Infrastructure Audit that TCRPC helped us with. This has been discussed at recent Board meetings.
