Peter Crowe, our Conference President
The St. Vincent de Paul Society (SVP) is an international Christian voluntary organisation, providing practical assistance to anyone in need. Our main purpose is to offer people the hand of friendship through befriending visits.
While our motivation stems from our religious belief, we are not here to 'convert' people, or to impose our faith. Our primary goal as our logo suggests, is to turn our concern into action for those in need.
Nationally the Society has more than 10,000 members who carry our befriending visits, and nearly 200 staff engaged in a wide variety of projects, providing practical support in the heart of local communities.
The SVP Group (each group is referred to as a 'conference') in our area covers a number of combined parishes – The Parish of St. Anne and St. Bernard, St Patrick and Our Lady Mount Carmel, St. Michael’s and Sacred Heart. We are known as the 'Holy Trinity Conference'.
We meet once a fortnight to discuss the cases of those referred and decide how best to meet their respective needs. Meetings usually last about one hour. Between meetings members visit those referred (referrals are usually made by priests and religious) and provide confidential support and practical help wherever possible. All visits are in made in pairs. All members need to be DBS cleared in accordance with National Safeguarding Standards.

If you feel you would like to join the SVP and be part of our growing team, you can contact Peter Crowe, our Conference President, on 07394 586669, or Email him at svp.holy.trinity@icloud.com
Our work is very rewarding and usually requires but a few hours a week of your free time!

We are in the process of establishing a Bereavement Group which aims to visit any families within the Parish who have experienced a bereavement and offer our support. We recognise that the time after a funeral can be very difficult and want to show our concern as a community for the family. We can be contacted via Jane, the Parish administrator on 0151 709 4434 and would be happy to call to the house or speak by phone.
