Check in/check out

Syracuse University Sheraton 801 University Ave, Syracuse, NY

Wednesday: If you have booked a room, check-in begins at 4pm. If your room is ready before then, the front desk will allow you to check in earlier, however, we have a secure room where you can leave your luggage before check-in, so no worries about that.

Registration for the Institute will begin at 11am.

Programming will begin at 1pm - if you are commuting, park in the garage at the Sheraton and your parking will be validated at the front desk; just inform them you are with NYLA/SSL.

There is NO lunch included on Thursday, but we will have a “substantial” snack bar open during registration and will include veggies, fruit, cheese, crackers, hummus and beverages. We encourage you to make a plate and take it into the room while you get situated and ready to work. Water stations will be available throughout the day.

Thursday: If you have booked a room, check out is 12 noon. We have a secure room where you can leave your luggage until the end of the programming.

Programming will begin at 8am - if you are commuting, park in the garage at the Sheraton and your parking will be validated at the front desk, just inform them you are with NYLA/SSL. Commuters should join us for breakfast between 7 and 8 as that is included in your registration.

What should I bring?

*A connective device (laptop, iPad, notebook, etc.). REMEMBER your power cords/extension cords/outlet strips for the Institute session.

* The AASL Standards book if you have one. While not an absolute necessity, it may be referenced during the presentation and you might want it at your table for reference. If you ordered one with your registration, it will be provided to you at registration on Wednesday. Extras will be available for purchase ($99).

*The meeting room is air conditioned and might be cold. Bring a light sweater if you get cold easily.

* Baskets for the scholarship fundraiser and cash or checkbook! We will have a fundraiser on Thursday evening to benefit the Carol Kearney Leadership Retreat Scholarship. See the auction website for ideas about what to bring and information on our NEW format.

CASUAL dress is the word for these days – remember, even though we are working, it is still vacation for us! Please wear whatever is comfortable for you. The meeting room is air conditioned so t-shirts and shorts (with a sweater maybe) are appropriate. If you wish to take a walk around campus, bring a comfortable pair of sneakers or walking shoes.

This is a lot to take in….
