Booktalking Bonanza, 7-8:30pm NOTE: Participation is not optional for CTLE credit.

Literature connection has been requested in evaluations for the last few years and this will be fun! At this booktalk networking experience, interested participants will contribute two slides prior to the Institute to a shared Google Slides presentation, one focusing on a book that they will booktalk and one on one way they cultivate a culture of reading in their libraries. Submissions will be categorized and grouped based on responses to a brief survey; participants will spend a glorious hour or more sharing with and being inspired by each other in a small group setting and, in so doing, they will become more effective at meeting the new Standards. “Booktalk leaders” are still needed and it is a SUPER easy way to get involved! See the "Book Bonanza" webpage for more information about this program and to sign up to be a booktalker!

Scholarship Auction, 8:30pm-10:30pm NOTE: (Does NOT count towards CTLE).

The auction and mixer is a “kick back and relax” while you support a great cause kinda’ night After the Book Bonanza, we will turn the meeting room into an auction house where ALL the proceeds will go to the scholarship fund for 2019. This year we have 16 people on scholarship due to this auction! Visit the auction webpage for more information on how to support this worthy event.

What should I bring?

*A connective device (laptop, iPad, notebook, etc.). REMEMBER your power cords/extension cords/outlet strips for the Institute session.

* At least one Lesson plan you are already comfortable with or a concrete idea for at least one new one. We will work on “Standard-izing” them -- this is a MUST!

* The AASL Standards book - this is a MUST! If you ordered one with your registration, it will be provided to you at registration on Thursday.

*The meeting room is air conditioned and might be cold. Bring a light sweater if you get cold easily.

* Books for the Book Bonanza -- read more about that here!

* Items for the auction (and cash or checkbook)! We will have an auction on Thursday evening to benefit the Carol Kearney Leadership Retreat Scholarship. See the auction website for ideas about what to bring and information on our NEW format.

CASUAL dress is the word for these days – remember, even though we are working, it is still vacation for us! Please wear whatever is comfortable for you. The meeting room is air conditioned so t-shirts and shorts (with a sweater maybe) are appropriate. If you wish to take a walk around campus, bring a comfortable pair of sneakers or walking shoes.

This is a lot to take in….
