- The Tōge Tunnel, more commonly known as the Eastern Tunnel, was established in the late 60s; during the Education Boom. Separating Itsbyoshi from Kaigan, it served as a passage through the mountains of Kohaku. However, just after exiting the tunnel, citizens lose the virtue of paved roads in favor of a more traditional and grounded route; for this side of the island is dedicated to agriculture.
- The tunnel remained relatively stable and unchanged, that was until Mayor Herrington was elected to office. Shortly following his ascension, a terrible accident befell the tunnel forcing a cave-in and the closing of the tunnel until further notice.
- To further complicate things, due to the tunnel being so narrow and buried under a mountain, reconstruction moves at a snail’s pace. In the absence of that tunnel, ferries were used to transport citizens from one side of the island to another.
