Learning has been my passion. I am a PhD student at the Indian Institute of Technology, Kanpur, under the guidance of Professor Nachiketa Tiwari. He has built the Acoustics lab (Dhwani lab), where I pursue my research on the acoustics of tabla, an Indian harmonic rhythm instrument. Looking at tabla from different standpoints: musical, signal processing, vibrational, and psychoacoustical has yielded some interesting observations.

Organized Workshops
Employees from Hindustan Aeronautical Limited, India, participated in a workshop held at the Acoustics lab, IITK, in February 2023. There were two experiments. [a] Tabla’s Sound Recording: Data Acquisition Using Microphone and Determining its Frequency Spectrum [b]. Tabla Membrane Vibration: Out-of-the-plane displacement measurement using two high-speed cameras. The workshop was conducted for 30 employees for a duration of one month.
Attended Workshops
Participated in Ignaz Kögler Summer Research Camp in Acoustics, on September 27th to 1st October 2021 from Techniche Hoschule, Ingolstadt, Germany.
Awards
Our paper titled “Investigating the asymmetry in tension in a tabla membrane from a musical perspective” fetched the best paper award in the National Symposium on Acoustics (NSA 2023), Odisha, held from 24-26 February, and organized by the Acoustical Society of India and VSSUT Odisha.
