Policy Processes

According to PowerDMS (2021), a good policy:

• Is clear, concise, and uses simple language.

• Explains rules, not how to implement rules.

• Is easily accessible to staff members of an organization.

• Represents a consistent & logical framework.

Of course, this takes a lot of work and dedication! The video I've made runs down the process of writing and implementing an effective policy in 3 phases:

1. Preparation

2. Development

3. Implementation

I never knew the meticulous nature of writing and actually implementing a policy before. With so many different considerations and questions to ask yourself and your team, I can see why this process can take months or even years before the policy finally comes to fruition.
