The Champion's Committee create a list of nominees over the course of a year, from 20th November - 19th November the following year. On the 20th November the Committee must have selected a 'Front Runner' who will announced as the annual Champion on the following 20th December. However, this is only tentative and the committee may chose another nominee at any time between the 20th November and 14:59 on 20 December, except if they do change their selection it has to be a nominee from the shortlist not any other person or organisation not already named on the shortlist.
Strictly speaking anyone can be awarded as long as they meet just one of the Awarding Fields, and that their contribution occured between the 21st December and 19th November. The Committee do have an Awarding Criteria that prohibits them from selecting certain potential nominees, however these are kept secret along with the full Champion's Committee Awarding Statutes.
The Committee welcome nominations from across the globe, and anyone can nominate a candidate.
The Committee will scrutinise all the nominations they receive to ensure that they meet to Awarding Criteria. Nominations from outside the Committee are welcome between the 1st January and 31st October and can be done online, see our nominations page.
