Every Monday 6:15pm - 8:30pm
Children Services (CS) is dedicated to create a nurturing learning environment for Primary 1 to Primary 4 children under the Nurture Programme at WeLL Centre.
Nurture is a community literacy and numeracy programme comprising two core modules – Communication and Problem-Solving.
Bring care and happiness to the children through educating and learning with them
Bring compassion and nurture for the children to thrive
A team-based community service that will develop your Leadership and Interpersonal skills
Experience the satisfaction and meaning of helping people in need
For our regular service, weekly lessons are conducted for the children to develop social, emotional and communication skills.
Every session, we will distribute dinner to the children before their lessons and assist in preparing the lesson materials needed.
We will interact with the children and guide them along with the lessons.
Every lesson includes various activities such as games, singing, arts and crafts sessions. Without fail, the children and the volunteers always have a joyful time spent together.
Other than our regular service, we also organise our own events, collaborate with and participate actively in events by external organisations.
This is an event organised to benefit the children from low income families by providing financial aid and school materials such as school bag and shoes that is necessary to prepare them for the upcoming school year.
It was held with a small carnival that include games and food for the families to enjoy their day. It aims to strengthen their bond with the community and their family through the family day event that will be running concurrently with the distribution.
Our committee planned the registration, ushering of the children and distribution of materials where the volunteers assisted in on that day.
To commemorate their 10th anniversary in 2019, USS had arranged for the children from low-income families to enjoy their day at the park.
This was a memorable experience for the children and the volunteers! For some of children, it was their first time visiting USS hence they were eager to ride the exciting attractions such as Battlestar Galactica, Revenge of the Mummy: The Ride and Transformers: The Ride 3D.
Towards the end of the day, we watched the highlight of the event which was the special Christmas-themed performance by Universal Studios characters such as Minions and Sesame Street.
*Throughout the day, the volunteers ensured that the children travelled in an orderly manner and accompanied them on the rides*
To mark the end of Ramadan, CS organised a mini Hari Raya celebration where the children of Nurture gathered together to take part in exciting activities such as arts and craft, fashion show, games and prize-giving held at the centre.
We donned ourselves in our ethnic costumes and brought our kuih-muih from home to share with others.
The children and the volunteers also worked together to decorate the area with handmade paper cuts such as ketupat and other Hari Raya decorations.
It was a day filled with fun and laughter for the children and volunteers!
In collaboration with ITE, we had our annual Children's Day celebration back again!
With the strong support & planning by the teachers and students of ITE College Central, the day was filled with fun games & hands on activities specially lined up for them, including an in-house movie screening of ‘The Secret Life of Pets’!
The children learnt values through games that could be related back to their daily lives such how to spend money wisely.
The volunteers too had a fun-filled day participating with the children, making sure that they had fun, while ensuring their safety.
Besides our regular services and events for children, we also have other external voluntary events for the elderly in need such as refurbishing their home and giving out food to them.
FRESH project was carried out to help out 15 elderly folks living in rental flats at Henderson Road.
Volunteers assisted in cleaning, painting and minor repair works for the elderly to improve in their living conditions as most of them have difficulties in accomplishing these labour work.
Living in a clean and tidy environment definitely lifted the mood of the elderly folks.
For us, this project was a meaningful and heartwarming experience!
'Goodwill Food Box' is a food rations container in Henderson-Dawson where it is used for monthly distribution of food rations for residents staying in constituency, who are the lower income or isolated elderly.
For the pre-launch, volunteers assisted in painting the design of the container. Afterwards, we helped to pack and distribute the ration packs on the launch of the foodbox on a monthly basis.
'Goodwill Food Box' will now brighten up the neighbourhood and bring cheers to our needy residents!
