On Saturday, the 1st of February, we had a Club Bonding Day, where we engaged in various fun bonding activities, which allowed us to learn much about each other, going beyond names, to even learning about everyone's greatest fears!
It was certainly a fun filled day, and we hope that these newly forged friendships will last a lifetime, and that everyone coming down had a blast!
On Saturday, the 16th of November, we participated in the SHG Graduation Ceremony Cum Family Day, where the organising committee set up several games and activity booths for the Supervised Homework Group (SHG) children and their families to participate and enjoy.
It was certainly a fun-filled and enjoyable experience for all involved, with our volunteers engaging with the children and their families, bringing many smiles to their faces.
We hope that through this event, our volunteers also found much joy through this meaningful interaction, and will continue to bless the community through the spirit of volunteerism! ❤️❤️
On the weekend of 27th to 28th July, our volunteers spent a meaningful 2 days, distributing supplies and interacting with the residents of Teck Ghee estate.
It was certainly a fun-filled and enjoyable experience for all involved, with our volunteers interacting with the recipient families, and hearing about their stories.
We certainly hope that our volunteers found the distribution and interaction with the residents meaningful, and will continue to spread care and kindness throughout the community by volunteering! ❤️❤️
On the week of 1st to 5th July, SP's GoServe clubs came together to organise a week long series of activities, aimed at raising awareness of the GoServe initiative, and to allow SP Students to understand and empathise with those who may experience various forms of disability.
For YEET Week, WSC's focus was on those suffering from Visual Impairment, as well as other Age Related disabilities, such as Arthritis, and Tunnel Vision. WSC created a blind walk obstacle course, giving SP students the chance to experience the daily challenges faced by those experiencing visual impairment.
In addition, we also created a "living with Arthritis and Tunnel Vision" experience, in which participants would attempt to write a letter while wearing goggles restricting their field of vision, and tight gloves, which would restrict their finger movements.
On Saturday, the 1st of June, our volunteers spent a meaningful Saturday at the VOKinclusion Carnival last week, held at Enabling Village, organised by NTU WSC's Challenge ur Limits (CurL).
Our WSC Members acted as game masters and buddies to several students throughout the day, as they played games, and learnt housekeeping, basic IT skills, food & beverage and flower arrangements. 💐🛏💻 .
It has certainly succeeded in its aims of going beyond conventional volunteerism, as volunteers also learnt about the importance of having an inclusive society.
We hoped that through this, our volunteers have gained a new insight from this event and will continue to keep up this warm spirit of volunteering! ❤️❤️
On the 3rd of May 2019, we held our 47th Annual General Meeting, which began with a series of Bonding Games and activities, before proceeding with the handover ceremony, and the introduction to the club's Calendar of Events for the 2019/20 Academic Calendar.
We hope that through the bonding games, we allowed our new members to mix and get to make new friends, while our Calendar of Events presentation allowed our members to know the upcoming activities on WSC's 2019-20 slate! ❤️❤️
On the 27th of April, volunteers from WSC came together with a group of special education students to raise funds for the Muscular Dystrophy Association of Singapore. The aim of this was to allow WSC members to interact with students from the special education schools, and to also build the confidence of these students, while interacting with members of the public.
From the 8th of April to the 10th of April, WSC set up a booth at T11 Square, promoting our club as part of the annual CCA Carnival, with the aim of raising awareness for our cause, and to reach out to freshmen entering SP, as well as other students, who were interested in joining our WSC family! ✨✨❤️❤️
On the 25th of March, WSC organised Story in the Sky, together with SP Astronomers, to come up with a space themed event for our members, to learn about the solar system, through a mixture of games, and lectures.
On Saturday, the 17th of November, we participated in the SHG Graduation Ceremony Cum Family Day, where we, the organising committee, set up several game and activity booths for the SHG children and their families to celebrate their graduation. Through the games we hoped that the children can learn and enjoy themselves during the graduation.
Our volunteers had an enjoyable day and spent their meaningful afternoon engaging the SHG children and families!
On the 21st and 27th of July, our members spent their meaningful days volunteering and distributing awareness flyers and collection of supplies from residents of Bukit Panjang Estates. Our members interacted with the residents in Bukit Panjang Estates as well.
Our members enjoyed themselves and made new friends through this event. We hoped that our members will continue to volunteer together with their friends and keep this warm spirit of volunteering.
On the 4th of July 2018, Wednesday, WSC collaborated with Student Development and Alumni Relations and other service learning club to organise an event, Hair for Hope, to raise awareness on Children's Cancer and fund raising for children's cancers during the SP's GoServe Week.
For this event, WSC's focus was to spread awareness through games such as Memory Cards, Word Search and look for the crane. After going through a series of games, they will need to unlock the box using the clues that were given during the games.
On Saturday, the 20th of May 2018, our volunteers spent their meaningful afternoon together with other universities, polytechnics and ITE to raise fund for Community Chest Charity TV Show 2018.
The fund was raised using the first-ever use of digital technology, the public were able to make donations via QR code with DBS PayLah!
We hoped that through this, our volunteer have gained new friends from other institutions and insights of this event.
