"Music education opens doors that help children pass from school into the world around them a world of work, culture, intellectual activity, and human involvement. The future of our nation depends on providing our children with a complete education that includes music." - President Gerald Ford
We are always wanting to grow our program, and YOUR voice is what matters the most. Help build our program by creating a recruitment video to share with elementary and middle school students. Here is your (optional, but helpful) task:
Create a video that answers one or all of the questions below. I will compile the videos and use them as a recruitment tool throughout the year. Once you have recorded yourself, send it to me via email. Here are the questions/topics to answer:
Why do you like being in band?
Why do you like playing an instrument?
What opportunities has band given you that other activities can't?
Why should others join band?
Send your videos to emily.brabant@ridgefieldsd.org
Visit https://musescore.com/ OR https://www.noteflight.com/ and download the free software. Then begin experimenting! Write a melody, write a rhythm, and put them together. Try adding harmony - how does it sound when you play it back? What if you add accidentals? Lastly - SEND IT TO ME! Save it to your computer, and attach it to an email!
In this activity, you chat with somebody you know over the age of 60, asking them about their musical tastes when they were your age. Then, LISTEN!
I mean it - give your instrument a good, deep clean. Especially YOU, brass players! To know more about how to clean your instrument, click the button below.
