"Agent Curt Mega finds himself thrust into the shadows of Cold War politics as he works to foil a plot to rebuild the Nazi empire. Along the way, Agent Mega must tango with a Russian femme fatale, waltz around a black market arms dealer, and samba through a horde of outrageous characters. With a license to kill and the voice of an angel, Mega must stay alive, complete the mission, and prove to his enemies that the deadliest weapon of all is a little song and dance."
- Spies are Forever, Official SynopsisÂ
This is a show about queerness, hiding your identity, trust, and figuring out who you are. The main character, Agent Curt Mega, is a gay man in the 1960s, coming back to his job as a spy after four years away. He's grappling with his own masculinity and his sense of self in the face of a mission that throws him into the deep end.
This struggle, both internal and external, parallels the struggle many queer people are facing in 2023. With "Don't Say Gay" bills and anti-trans legislation on the rise, so many queer people are being forced to strip themselves of being open about their identity.
In this musical, we watch Curt slowly come back to himself, with the help of coworkers and friends.
