Finances a/k/a The New Math

Revised 6/7/2018: The co-op board reported that Ascend's most recent is almost $53 million, which seems like a lot of money, and that is the amount all the pro-sale proponents quote, but in reality:

• After taxes, the amount will be $39 million;
• Another $5 million is set aside for the 'maintenance holiday' ("Honey, what's a five letter word for 'maintenance holiday' that begins with 'B'?). That sounds like a good deal to some folks, but four months goes by quickly, but the proposed huge buildings will be around forever;
• The co-op will net $34 million;
• The co-op's annual revenues are about $26 million, so for less than 1.5 years' revenue, we are permanently changing our local environment, sunlight, air, and street congestion levels.
