This is a fun articulation activity I created myself! Have your child make little balls out of playdough and choose a snowman to "smash"! Have them tell you the word on the snowman they choose to smash and then ask them "what did you smash?! I didn't see it!" to get extra practice.
This is another activity I created - an open-ended winter themed board game, perfect for any articulation target! Write in the words you want your child to practice on the blank spaces. For older kids, have them come up with words with their sounds and write them in as they play. Increase the complexity by asking them to come up with complete sentences using their word. Cut out the game pieces and stand them up in binder clips or use your own manipulatives.
Winter Speech and Language Tree
Talk about the changes the winter season brings with this printable speech and language activity! To adapt it for articulation exercises, write words with the target sounds on or under the snowflakes and pinecones and practice them before you glue them on. For language activities, model verbs and prepositions like "cut", "put on", "glue", "put it under the owl", or "put it next to to the pinecone".
Practice language and social-emotional skills with the Grinch in this super fun, super simple "snacktivity"! Pair this activity with the book "How the Grinch Stole Christmas". This is a great introduction into being thoughtful, kind, and what it means to have empathy to our young learners!
Turn this glitter sensory jar into a snowglobe craft for winter! Simply glue a toy or a (laminated) picture to the lid before you screw the top on. Model language such as verbs and sequencing words as you do this craft with your child!
Get outside (or inside!) and get moving with this winter scavenger hunt! Use this activity to target vocabulary, prepositions, pronouns, articulation, and more! I like to give my young learners a clipboard and pen so they can cross them off as we find them. This activity is perfect for children learning to use AAC devices too! Target core words like "see", "look", and "there".
This simple Choose Your Own Adventure about a snow day is a fun way to get your kids reading and predicting! I made mine kind of silly to keep their interest up. It's easy to create your own using powerpoint! This story is full of /S/ articulation words and you can use it creatively to practice inferencing, main idea, winter vocabulary, verbs and nouns, and more!
