The Graduate Student Association (GSA) is a student fee-funded organization formed by graduate students to promote the interests of the graduate student body at UNCG. The association is student operated and governed. Throughout the year we award approximately $50,000 to support travel to conferences, assist with thesis and dissertation expense, and provide grants for local community-based research.
The Higher Education Student Association (HESA) is a great way to get involved during your time at UNCG. HESA is the student group affiliated with SAAHE and provides an opportunity to get to know your peers outside the classroom through various social events.
The Black Student Union (BSU) exists to incorporate community outreach, political awareness, and cultural appreciation into our university's general student body self-enhancement and academic responsibility. BSU explores modern avenues such as social events, discussions, global issues, media outlets, community service, and personal networking to fulfill this purpose.
Graduate students have the opportunity to co-teach a 3-credit First Year Experience (FYE) seminar course for a semester. In this role, co-teachers support instructors and mentor an undergraduate Peer Academic Leader (PAL). They have a chance to foster discussions and group activities to encourage student learning of campus resources and engagement opportunities to promote success during their first year of college.
As a Silver Leadership Coach, you will be trained by OLCE staff to work one-on-one with students in individualized coaching sessions. OLCE provides you with resources and training opportunities throughout the year to support you in coaching students through the process of setting and achieving personal, professional, and academic goals and challenging them to find answers from within--based on their values, experiences, and unique perspectives.
