Dana created an interactive online series to foster conversations with people working to enhance the experiences of older people and good examples of how services engage.
Being Curious was funded by the Commonwealth Government for Sector Support & Development (SSD) of Commonwealth Home Support Programme (CHSP) at Aged & Community Services Australia (ACSA). It was made for rural engagement as a series of presentations from local & national initiatives who are demonstrating active ways of enhancing the lives of diverse populations in the community. This series engaged the listener with projects to encourage them to get more curious about grass roots ideas which aim to impact the lives of marginalised or vulnerable people by strengthening their capacities physically, emotionally, mentally & spiritually.
The aim of the Webinar series was to share information about a range of topics and projects to spark curiosity to enhance the lives of older people. My hope was that these sessions would kindle deeper understanding and further engagement with these projects, connecting older people to empowering practices or even ignite new ventures and relationships.

Dana developed three one hour online workshops, one for each video. These were offered through the SA Collaborative Projects across 3 weeks in response to the Covid 19 pandemic. this remote learning enabled participants to integrate the concepts learned during the week and bring the insights and experiences to the conversations. Ideal for new workforce, volunteers or students.

Dementia Friendly Communities project: CADDY Project aimed to empower people living with memory loss and/or early stage dementia to feel valued, maintain independence and stay connected with the community. This trial project was funded by Office for the Ageing via the Age Friendly SA grants. Project partners were secured to get the collaborative initiative underway.
As one project partner the contribution I made supported the learning needs of the participating volunteer Caddies. Ongoing work developed a resource kit to aid interested bodies to develop their own Caddy Projects. Splashes of Colour, was a collaborative project between the Fontanelle Gallery and UnitingCare Wesley Bowden (UCWB). The wall design was developed by carers from three different UCWB programs, with expert guidance from Fontanelle artists Brigid Noone and Ben Leslie, Project Coordinator Dana Lavenant. This unique opportunity fostered creativity, inspiration and participation by carers who were committed to 5 weeks of workshops learning about abstract design and the meaning of colour.
