I received my PhD from the University of California, Davis, in the Department of Spanish and Portuguese, where I specialized in Spanish Linguistics and Second Language Acquisition, with a focus on educational technologies.
My dissertation is titled "The Task is in the Text: Texting and L2 Oral Fluency", and focuses on the impact of text messaging in second language (L2) Spanish on oral fluency.
My M.A. thesis is titled "El impacto de SMS en la producción lingüística" ("The impact of SMS on linguistic production") which explored the potential impact of SMS and textisms on writing and speaking, both in English and Spanish.
