Preparation for First Reconciliation
Children and one parent/guardian must attend both preparation classes. Older and younger siblings are not permitted to attend (unless the older sibling is over the age of 16 and there to stand as the adult for the child)
DATES: January 27 AND February 10, 2024
TIME: 9:00-11:00 thank you for arriving at least 10 minutes early
WHAT TO BRING:
colouring 'stuff' (pencil/wax crayons or markers)
a pencil
slippers or indoor shoes
a reminder of the child's baptism (for example, a picture in a frame or on a phone, their candle, their white garment, a gift they received). We have found the children are quite excited if they don't know that parents brought the item along; they all seem to love the surprise!
Celebration of First Reconciliation
DATE: February 24, 2024
PLACE: St. Dominic Church. Please go directly to the church; no need to visit the hall.
TIME: 11:00 The entire celebration will last approximately one hour.
WHO ATTENDS?: Additional members (besides the child and their adult) of your family are welcome to attend but PLEASE NOTE:
Before confessing, your child needs time and space to reflect and likely just sit quietly with a parent
After confessing, your child will return to your pew, complete penance prayers and REFLECT SILENTLY, while the other children prepare for their turn. This is not a time to be distracted by siblings or other matters.
ATTIRE (what should my child wear?): please see the information on the home page of this website
