Launched in 2016, the TREP Project was initiated in response to the educational consequences of the chronic toxic stress of living in neighbourhoods with low socio-economic status and associated social issues (high crime, concentrated poverty, foster care involvement and housing instability). Since the Covid 19 Pandemic, TREP has become even more valuable in providing resources and strategies for Trauma Responsive Educators, including educator self-care and compassionate discipline.

They aim to "help students and teachers thrive in 21st century classrooms" by providing resources and creating positive dialogue.

Although it seems simple, this requires a paradigm shift from compliance based education that can be incredibly challenging in our current school system and structure.
