Through funding and sponsorships provided by our partners, we are able to provide financial support to candidates who apply for training on any of these courses.
Applicants who are eligible for funding support, include those who:
• work in eye care programmes
• in low and middle income countries
• in government or charitable programmes and
• cannot afford the cost of the training
The funding support available can be categorised as follows:
Full scholarship, where UCT-CEHI pays course fees, travel, accommodation, and subsistence costs (based on allowed expenditure)
Part scholarship, where UCT-CEHI pays travel, accommodation, and subsistence costs (based on allowed expenditures), but participant must pay own fees
Travel support, where UCT-CEHI pays travel, accommodation costs, but participant must pay own fees and subsistence cost
Fee waiver support, where UCT-CEHI pays the course fee, and the participant must pay own travel, accommodation, and subsistence cost
Volunteers and ophthalmology registrars may have their course fees waived, but will be responsible for their own travel, accommodation, and subsistence costs. Candidates identified by sponsoring partners will be eligible for the recommended support category.
