Surveys
Verification of our app's effectiveness continues through the use and application of its educational modules. Users will be prompted to complete brief satisfaction and progress surveys as they access and utilize the app. Steps in effectively utilizing surveys include creation, inspection, validation, verification. Users will interact with surveys that are created and utilized following these steps.
Interviews
As the app is in development, is released, and is improved, interviews with users will be highly informative. Interviews will be scheduled and designed to probe "individual experiences, encouraging self-reflection on issues that could be distorted if social pressure were placed on the individual" (Breen, 2007, p. 466). After the initial release in its alpha & beta stages, active users will be invited to participate in an interview with the app developers to assess areas of strength, and areas requiring improvement. App effectiveness will be judged mainly by the sense of connection and integration that users develop in Costa Rican society as they choose to engage with the tools and materials that the app offers.
Focus Groups
A focus group is a research method "appropriate for the generation of new ideas formed within a social context" (Breen, 2007, p. 466). ¡¿Sos Tico?! is designed to encourage social experience and immersion, and users who choose to use the app as designed are good candidates for focus groups and the generation of ideas to verify and improve our app. Once the app has been in use long enough to generate a robust list of users, a random selection process will be used to invite users to participate in a focus group.
