Through these assessments, users may determine how well they comprehend the subtleties of the Costa Rican vocabulary presented in our app and get insightful feedback for honing their language skills. Learning Goals:
Vocabulary: Develop the ability to use and understand commonly used words and phrases in Costa Rica, including expressions, idioms and colloquialisms specific to the country.
Cultural awareness: Gain insight into the cultural nuances and context in which the vocabulary is used in Costa Rica, including social settings, regional variations, and appropriate usage in different situations
Listening comprehension: Enhance listening skills to accurately understand spoken vocabulary in authentic conversations and other forms of media from Costa Rica.
Speaking skills: Build speaking skills to confidently and appropriately use vocabulary in conversations with native speakers from Costa Rica, including pronunciation, intonation and usage in context.
Fluency and authenticity: Aim to achieve a level of fluency and authenticity in using the vocabulary from Costa Rica, so that users can communicate naturally and confidently with native speakers in real-world interactions.
Assessment Types:
Quizzes: Used to assess vocabulary retention by presenting learners with multiple choice, fill-in-the-blank, or matching questions that require them to identify or define vocabulary words and phrases from Costa Rica.
Listening exercises: Audio or video clips featuring authentic conversations or interviews that include vocabulary from the learning module. Users can be asked to answer questions or provide written/spoken responses based on their understanding.
Role-plays or simulations: Used to assess fluency and authenticity as well as practical usage. Users can be given scenarios where they need to use the vocabulary appropriately in simulated conversations or interactions with virtual characters or other learners, demonstrating their ability to use the language naturally and authentically in context.
Conversations or speaking tasks (in-app challenges): Through voice or video recordings, users can be prompted to engage in conversations with native speakers or other learners where they are expected to use the vocabulary appropriately and effectively. The recordings can then be used to assess the users speaking skills and their ability to use the vocabulary in authentic conversations.
Self-assessment and reflection: Users will have access to self-reflection prompts, self-check quizzes that will be incorporated into each module to allow users to assess their own progress and understanding.
