Capstone Project–Effective Patient Communication Techniques for Health Professionals
Course Description
This course deepens students’ expertise in instructional design by engaging them in complex, real-world projects that require the application of advanced design models, tools, and evaluation strategies. Students refine their ability to manage design processes, analyze learning environments, and implement high-impact instructional solutions across varied contexts.
Capstone Project Content
The storyboard page is designed to visually and narratively outline the instructional plan for a module or lesson. It serves as both a planning and communication tool, illustrating how the instruction will unfold. This page includes key elements such as the instructional narrative, content hierarchy, and flowchart, providing a structured overview of the learning experience. It maps out the sequence of content delivery, the integration of activities and interactions, and the assessment points aligned with learning objectives. By combining visuals with written descriptions, the storyboard ensures instructional designers, subject matter experts, and facilitators share a clear and unified vision of how the instruction will be implemented.
Instructor Material is a dedicated page that outlines the essential resources instructors need to deliver the instructional content effectively. These materials are designed to support clear, consistent, and engaging instruction. They include an Instructor Guide (with step-by-step directions, timing, and facilitation tips), a slide presentation aligned with the learning objectives, and learner handouts that complement the lesson. Together, these resources ensure instructors are well-prepared and able to create a smooth and impactful learning experience.
The Learner Resources page is designed to present the essential materials that support learner engagement and participation during the session. This page includes key resources such as the Learner Guide, a student version of the slide presentation, and handouts with clear instructions for use. These materials are thoughtfully designed to help learners understand what is expected of them, what they will learn, and how to effectively interact with the content. By providing structured and purposeful resources, this page ensures learners are well-prepared, actively engaged, and positioned to achieve the desired learning outcomes.
This page highlights how I translate feedback and research into actionable improvements. It documents the ongoing development of my instructional project based on input from peers, instructors, consultants, and literature.
