I've been a barista for 4 years now and so my interest in coffee is not that surprising. I watch an insane amount of latte art videos and I am mesmerised each time. I truly just find it fascinating how well some people can manipulate milk into doing whatever they want going where they want it to. I'd like to think I am good at latte art but I still have a lot to learn. I can do the standard love heart, Rosetta and the mix of two, but other than that, I can really only do the elephant portrayed here and, on a good day, maybe a swan. Every chance I get in work to practice, I am.
I really enjoy photography. I love seeing something breath taking with your eyes and having the skill to capture it and do it justice. I am not one of those people who can do that however. I am consciously making an effort to improve on my photography skills but, as of right now, I don't have the money to spend on a professional camera so my talent is at a disadvantage. My sister is really big into taking photos and runs her own blog full of travel, baking and photos. Every now and again she asks me to go on a photography trip and I must say, I love stealing her camera and doing some photo taking of my own. In 5 years from now I hope to be able to edit this section and let you all know that I am an A+ photographer.
I'm sure everyone loves music but I am pretty confident when I say, my love for music is next level. There is nothing that music can't fix for me. It makes me happy, relieves my stress, calms me down, riles me up.... music literally helps me in every shape and form.
Sometimes I'm in work and it's really busy and nightmare customers are out in gangs and I can feel myself getting angry and stressed and so I take a 5 minute break, put on a song and all of a sudden I'm okay again. I'm pumped and ready for the pressure that's coming.
This year, I'm making it my mission to go to as many gigs as I can. I used to think it was a waste of time spending money on concerts because you can hear everything online now but I realise I was not making any sense when I said that. There's something so much more powerful about music when it's live.
Next upcoming gig: Maggie Rogers Feb 14th.
I find of squished these two interests together because I find myself looking at art and admiring the art and then my next thought is always "Huh I wonder if that'd be nice as a tattoo" or "Huh I wonder if someone has gotten that tattooed". I love tattoos, I think finding an image or a phrase or whatever that you love so much and getting it permanently on your body is so lovely. The photograph beside this is a picture of my first ever tattoo Nelson the Elephant. I have an undying love for Elephants and I believe they bring luck and so on my 18th birthday I booked myself in for a 2 hour session and came out with Nelson. I also have a second tattoo, it's a simplistic drawing of Maleficent from sleeping beauty. I got it because when the movie Maleficent, with Angelina Jolie, was released and they showed why she was evil, it weirdly resonated with me. I like that they expressed that sometimes, people are cruel but that doesn't make them bad people. There's always another side to every story.
I studied art in school and so I find myself constantly being intrigued by random paintings hanging up in peoples houses or stopping and staring at street art. I want to know the story behind everything.
I suppose this ties in with my love of art. I like the idea of looking at a product and thinking of new and exciting ways to present that product to make people want to buy it. Certain adverts (the best adverts in my opinion) are ones that make you feel something or that are smart as opposed to just "This is food, it tastes delicious, buy it." My dream is to end up working in a creative agency, my big loves are Bloom Advertising and BBDO. I find their work forever fascinating and thoroughly thought through. I hope to have an imagination up to their standards one day.
This is obviously a given, everyone enjoys hanging out with their friends. I really just wanted to post this picture cause I find it funny.
