Game UIUX
Game UIUX
Learnt the basics of how to create effective game interfaces using the appropriate tools and techniques. In addition, I was also taught on understanding user perspectives and experiences of users interacting with game interfaces
Project Deliverables:
Game UIUX Research & Game Design Document
Low- fi Prototype & Hi- Fi Prototype and User Testing for both.
Game Asset Pack
Clickable Prototype and Playtesting.
I did field research for the project and interviewed 3 people who were my target audience. Afterwards, I gathered my findings through empathy maps and personas. My findings were then used in the creation of the game. Some parts of my research that were presented can be seen on the left. On the other hand, the picture on the right shows a part of my game design document about the scene in the game and design behind it.
Low-Fi prototype and Hi- Fi prototype were created.
Tested out the prototypes with users and gathered feedback to improve.
One such improvement was the change in menu design.
Created game assets to use for hi-fi prototype and clickable prototypes
This includes the background, the characters, the buildings and UI etc..
Created a clickable prototype using Unity game engine.
A demo of the game is shown on the left.
Outcome of the Project:
Create a game based on the proposed design from the gathered findings of the fieldwork.
What I learnt from the project:
Firstly, I learnt how to create my own game assets through tools such as Adobe Illustrator and Photoshop. It was an enriching experience as I had to learn them from scratch through various channels such as YouTube and online websites. For example, I had to figure out how to create a wooden effect, so that the asset would seem to be created out of wood. But it was fun in learning how to create game assets from scratch. Next, I had a deeper understanding of what goes into creating game assets as previously, most of the game assets I used in my projects were either 3D models or assets that I found online. The project made me understand the importance of planning and sorting out the assets required for each scene before starting with the creation of game assets as it is easy to miss out game assets if it is not planned.
